             An analysis of the financing of the residential real estate transactions and the law and documents associated with it.

     C.   RESIDENTIAL TITLE INSURANCE

             An analysis of title insurance role in the residential real estate transaction, the various types of policies and endorsements, and making claims.

                A review  of the types of surveys in the residential real estate transaction and analysis of how to read them and “what to look for.”

                An analysis of the Broker and his/her role in the residential real estate transaction, as well as the Broker’s listing

               An analysis of the law as it relates to the residential real estate rights and remedies of the seller, buyer and under the contract.

        A discussion of the variations of residential closings, and the laws

                  and documents associated with them.

 

WHO

JEFFREY A. AUKER is an Assistant Vice-President and Underwriting Counsel for Chicago Title Insurance Company, where he is responsible for commercial and residential underwriting and claims administration for the Columbus, Ohio offices. He received his B.A. degree from The Pennsylvania State University and his Juris Doctor degree from The Capital University School of Law in 1983 when he was admitted to the practice of law in Ohio. Mr. Auker is a member of the Columbus Bar Association and the Ohio Land Title Underwriters Association, where he serves on the legislative and regulatory committees. He has previously presented lectures on real estate law and title insurance for purposes of continuing legal education as well as for the Columbus Board of Realtors Continuing Education Committee.

BRUCE H. BURKHOLDER is a partner with the law firm of Wiles Boyle, Burkholder & Bringardner Co., LPA, located in Columbus. His areas of practice include: real estate law, real estate development, restaurant development and construction law. He is a member of the Columbus Bar Association’s Real Property Law committee. In addition, he serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ohio Home Builder Association and the Chairman of that group’s Lawyers Committee. He has lectured on real estate law before the National Judicial College and the Ohio Society of CPAs.

JOHN J. JOSEPH is a partner in the law firm of Joseph & Joseph where he practices in the areas of real estate; business litigation and general practice. Education: The Ohio State University (B.S. summa cum laude, 1978; J.D. (with honors in law, 1981). Listed in Best Lawyers in America 1992-to present. Listed in the Bar Register of Pre-Eminent Lawyers by Martindale -Hubbell; Member: Columbus Committee on Real Property and Financial Institutions,1985-Chairman Real Property Law Institute 1989-1990, Chairman Real Property Committee 1991, 1992; Ohio State Member Real Property Section and American Member Sections on Real Property and Trust Law, Corporation, Banking and Business Bar Law, Bar Association.

A.J. MYERS is President and C.E.O. of Myers Surveying Company, Inc. in Columbus. Mr. Myers is a registered professional surveyor in the State of Ohio and is a member of the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, the National Society of Professional Surveyors and the American and Ohio Land Title associations. He served as chairman of the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio standards committee and developed the Minimum Standards for Mortgage Location Surveys, which has now been adopted as state code for all surveyors. He is a past president of the Professional Land Surveyors of Ohio and currently serves as chairman of the Interprofessional Affairs Committee; past co-chair of the American Congress of Surveying and Mapping Committee which revised the national American land Title Association/American Congress on Surveying and Mapping Land Title Survey Standards.

ROBERT WEILER joined the Robert Weiler Company in 1957. A graduate of the University of Arizona with honors, Dr. Weiler received a Masters Degree from The Ohio State University in Real Estate in 1964 and a Doctorate Degree in Finance in 1968. In 1983, Dr. Weiler was awarded a Juris Doctorate Degree from Capital University Law School and was admitted to the Ohio Bar that year. He has served on the faculty of The Ohio State University, Franklin University and Capital University Law and Graduate School and is a lecturer for The Ohio Association of Realtors.
